How to get there…..
Coming from base on the POL Gate (back gate) road, you will go straight until you get to the light by the Asahi Super Drugstore (which is one light before the light by the Universe Supermarket). Turn left at the Asahi Drugstore light and proceed east about 1/2 mile. The road is straight with rice fields on both sides until you come to the four-way intersection. There is no light at this intersection but on the right you will see a sauna business and on the left you will see the Ubagami Restaurant billboard. Proceed through the intersection, slowing down because the road curves sharply to the left and then to the right. Chiko’s Lomilomi Massage (Misawa Sogo Charm School) is the fourth building on the right-hand side counting from the sauna and is only about 150 feet through the intersection. You will see an electric sign and an American flag on the right in the shrubbery in front of the house. The sign will flash in English and Japanese ‘Lomilomi Massage’ ‘Hula Dance’ ‘Yoga’. Turn right at the sign and immediately left to park under the massage studio. The stairs to the studio are in the back of the parking area. There is parking for two autos under the studio, but also ample parking on the opposite side of the house when there are no classes and there is also parking on the main street shoulder. Just past the house you will see a brand-new road cutting across the road you are on. If you see this road you are already passing the house and studios and need to turn around. Chiseko (Chiko) Yanagisawa
After founding Misawa Sogo Charm School in 1960, she traveled to India, Europe and the USA to study to teach health and exercise and for over 20 years she has been teaching aerobics and yoga and has been training instructors in these fields as well.
In recent years, she has been studying traditional hula dance at long established schools in Hawaii, and is now teaching hula all around this area as well as training hula instructors.
